10 Things To Do on a Lazy Weekend

We’ve all been there. Either you do this on a daily basis or you just don’t feel like getting on the grind just because, here are things you can do to keep (or make) yourself still feeling positive and productive. I know, I know… you feel lazy so I guarantee, this will not be too hard. No need to do all of these because that would defeat the purpose, even one or a few of these will do.

1. Sleep

Please don’t oversleep. By sleep I mean, choose to sleep rather than binge on Netflix or play Candy Crush. Set an alarm and have that sleep you’ve been complaining you’re not getting. How many times have we promised that we will catch up on our lost sleep on the weekend but chose to binge-watch our favorite TV series instead? Do yourself a favor and sleep my dear, it’s good for you.

2. Read your Book

Yes, read your book. Reading does not require you to move around, you just have to flip or swipe few pages while sitting on a stationary position. Why not start by reading just a couple of page? Starting with the smallest amount of effort may get you going and you may even finish the book. As you go, try to highlight the ones you can apply and interesting things you’d like to research further on. Oh! Before I forget, by book I mean the educational kind and not the one you read for entertainment. You know that’s what you need.

3. Call your Family and Friends

This applies to people like me who get so caught up in the daily grind and forget that it’s been months since my last chat with a friend. Maybe you miss your Mom or she most probably misses you already, you may give her a call even just for a few minutes. This would make her feel that you think about her and that you miss her just like she does. Think about the people very dear to you and remember your last conversation, maybe you might want to get a chunk from this lazy weekend and have a meaningful conversation with them.

4. Have a Self-Care Date

Do you know that you don’t have to go to the spa to get the relaxation you need? If you’re too lazy to go out, create your own. First, set your intentions and take things slow. Engage your senses. Have your shower and don’t rush, enjoy the luxury of time washing your hair and body, massaging your scalp or using that body scrub you ignored for so long. Turn on a relaxing Spotify playlist, moisturize your body and pamper your face with your favorite serum. I feel like doing this already!

5. Listen to Podcasts or Audio books

There are a lot of free streaming available in Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher and there are books you can have through Audible. I usually take advantage of this by listening during my commute but I believe this would also do on a lazy day. If you’re like me, you would have your Google Keep ready to catch nuggets of wisdom that will do you great favor if applied. (Just wanna say that podcasts: Lavendaire, Oprah’s Supersoul Conversation, and The Brendon Show are among my favorites and they just inspire me to keep going)

6. Have your Digital Decluttering Done

Maybe it’s hard for your to stand up and declutter your room but you can do another form of decluttering. That is through cleaning your digital space. If it’s been a while and your files are scattered wherever, you have thousands of emails from subscriptions you don’t need, and your newsfeed feels like someone else’s because of Facebook “friends” you don’t know or people you follow that no longer inspires you, you can end this mental mess by deleting the unneeded emails, unsubscribing to email letters and unfollowing accounts that no longer serve their purpose.

7. Have a Detox Day

No, you’re not getting away from productivity even though you’re feeling lazy by declaring this day as a detox day. You don’t have to make complicated recipes for your meals. In fact, detox diet would usually consist of simple whole juice, healthy soups and a lot of fluids. You’re also encouraged to stay away from Social Media because while you’re at it, why not detoxify your mind from all the noise too?

8. Practice Gratitude

We all have things to be grateful for and if there’s one thing common among the happiest people I know, it’s gratitude. This might be easy on words but cultivating such mindset is built up over time. Why not let this be the day for you to say your thank you? You can get your journal and list down the things you are thankful for. I’m sure there are a lot but sometimes, we’re clouded that we don’t see that life itself, the sunrise, smile of a loved one, the food we eat are among so many things we’re blessed to have. From here, you can also answer the question “How can I give back?” I’m sure you’d have a long list and things to do after this activity.

9. Revisit your Goals

If you’re like most people, you would have goals in place to get you from Point A (where you’re at right now) to Point B (where you want to be). Now that’s great! We only have to revisit them and review the strategies you have and see if they’re still working. You may also think about your goal and see if it’s still a goal or if you have changed your mind. If you did, then it’s time to set up new strategies. This is something we should do on a regular basis even and most specially when we’re feeling out of our element. Maybe our goals no longer keep us going or maybe we are lost in the process. Whatever the case, our goals are something we should not sacrifice over a sluggish day. It’s not worth it.

10. Do Something Creative

Thinking about the things I learned from watching the documentary “The Creative Brain” from Netflix, I have concluded that creativity is a human need. From our early years, we have experimented on different things without our parents teaching us how to. We naturally want to tap into creativity and it is not limited to just the arts. We all have different interests and if we would just even try to revisit our creativity, we’ll do something wonderful and in the process, make us and others happy. If you want to write poetry, draw, blog, vlog, take photos, what have you, you can start now or even just research about it or get inspiration to do it. As for me, I would suggest the books You Can Draw in 30 Days: The Fun, Easy Way to Learn to Draw in One Month or Less and Big Magic Creative Living Beyond Fear. Have fun!

Maybe you have other fun things to add here. Maybe this inspired you in some way. Please share the love through comments and share. Let’s talk soon! 🙂

All my love,

Ada ♥
